TRANSFER SPECIAL: Chelsea sign Brazilian starlet Oscar!

And The Oscar Goes To…

Chelsea have snatched Brazilian playmaker Oscar from under the noses of Andre-Villas Boas. The capture which will serve as notice to the rest of the football world that Chelsea are definitely a force to be reckoned with for years to come. With the signing of Hazard, Chelsea have signed two young players in the last two months who have the potential to be the world’s best football in the years to come. How exciting is that! It seems Oscar will be a long-term replacement for ageing superstar Frank Lampard, as Frankie hits 34 this year and a deal to transfer to the MLS has been mooted, although apparently false.

The player has already been capped by Brazil 6 times (although FIFA reckon they are the 11th best team in the world, we think that’s pretty good!) and will cost Chelsea circa £25m plus wages.

Oscar shot to fame for scoring a hat-trick in Brazil’s U/20 world cup final win over Portugal, in a match where he scored all the goals and Brazil won 3-2. He is the first player in history to score a hat-trick in a world cup U/20 final.

From the DailyMail, here’s Oscar’s fact sheet.

Well done Roman, more of the same please! If we sign Hulk, we could have half the team Brazilian next year! Hulk, Piazon (if he starts and he is another super talent coming through), Ramires, Luiz and now Oscar.

  1. Wow, that came out of the BLUES!!! Great signing, I think.

On another note, has anyone else noticed the tendency towards attempting to sign a majority of any national team to a club? (See: Bayern/Germany, Juventus/Italy, Man U/England)

    • Yes I think we are going for some type of Belgian, Spanish and Brazilian holy trinity! Lukaku, De Bruyne, Hazard, Torres, Mata, Romeu, Ramires, Luiz, Oscar. All signing in the last two years.

What do we call this magical country?

So I guess another playmaker spells the end of either Kakuta or Benayoun. Right? Kakuta did well on his last loan but is he good enough to stay? What about Benayoun? I’d have him on my bench.

      • I’d like to see more of Kakuta but I’m not sure that either stay in the long run.

  2. Oscar, yea nice surprise…
I’d also like to see more of Kakuta too Jake,. Time to let Benayoun, Essien and Malouda go I think.

Pretty sure Hulk isn’t going to happen, how many non europeans can we have? The Schurle deal seems to have come from nowhere too, smoke screen for something else perhaps???
